Once you know how Flickr works, it's easy to participate in this group.
A digital camera and a Flickr account (see our previous post for an overview of how to set one up).
It has a bit of an unwieldy title, but Project MCP is a weekly/monthly photo challenge Flickr group set up by the website MCP Actions. MCP Actions sell Photoshop photo editing actions, and they have a fantastic community of photographers of all levels who participate in the group. I have no affiliation with the site, but I joined the Flickr group this year because I was a bit bored with the photos I was taking and wanted some motivation and ideas. I recommend it to anyone who wants to join a group of non-threatening and friendly photographers to share their own photos and get inspiration from others.

Set up a Flickr account, add your name to the Project MCP blog in the comments, and start taking photos. The guidelines for posting your photos to the group are on the Project MCP Flickr page (here). Each month the 4 or 5 weekly challenges for that month are posted on Flickr and on the Project MCP Blog, and you can complete one or all of them, and post at any time throughout the month. You can also enter the challenges more than once.
This month (March 2012), the 4 challenges are to take a pictures that;
1. are taken from a high viewpoint
2. use natural light
3. express the word 'Transition', and
4. are a 'guess what it is' photo.
These are my first 4 photos:

Transition

Guess what?

The 'guess what' photo was a close up of this tree:

There are 1,000s of groups to join on Flickr, this is just one. But it's a good place to start. Hope to see you there.
